Kid Storage – Simple is Best

Among moms, the actual main goal of Kid’s storage is to de-clutter. Much more than clothes and some other personal items of the child, the main challenge is being able to store his stuff. The challenge is for children to get them whenever they want them, and for mothers to get them out of sight and in harm’s way.

Storage of the toys is unlike any other compared to adult things. Toys often come with numerous parts and pieces. Children knew each by heart and if one goes missing, the room will be ransacked in order to search for it.

Toy types

One of the most helpful tips in storing toys would be organizing them by types. The best way to do this is having the kids help in sorting them out. Make piles for each of the different type of toys: dolls, cars, action figures, building blocks and others.

Note down the sizes and the number of containers you would need before shopping. (You can take pictures on your phone for reference.) The sorting and the storing of the toys by types make it easier for the kids to find what they want and are looking for.

Conversely, this also makes it easier for them to put their toys away.

Keeping it simple

It certainly is important (and practical) to sort and store the toys according to their types. However, you need not make it complicated. A simple, open container is most often the best solution in the sorting process.

Avoid sorting it further. For adults, sorting the Legos by size and color makes perfect sense. For six-year-olds, the other part of fun is the search and finding them. Putting them all back into those little slots is too much.

When you make it easier for your child to put away his things, it is most likely he will do so without out a fight. Get your storage solutions that will help make it easy for your child to find what they want. Likewise, it should be simple enough for them to put their toys away when they are finished with them.

Containers

Open containers are the best. By eliminating covers, you and your kids have one less thing to keep track of. When using closed containers for the storage, choose the ones that are easy for the little fingers to manipulate.

The simplest are those that have lids set on top. Inexpensive plastic on wheels also make great toy containers. They are easy to open and close. One other good feature is choosing those that are clear to look what’s inside with the contents visible from the outside.

Also, children will outgrow their toys but good containers are functional through the years.

Things at kid’s height

The main idea is to have your children as self-sufficient as possible when it comes to caring for their stuff and toys and keeping their rooms clean. The trick is to make it easy for them as much as possible.

Keep those shelves at the top that requires adult supervision. Proper Kid’s storage makes for a responsible child and keeps clutter away.
